Meet one of our first inspirations — Karina Ślęzak!
She considers herself a humanist with scientific interests. Her career began at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań where she studied Hungarian, with English as a second language. She then specialized in technical translations. “As a technical interpreter, I frequently worked on construction sites where I had situations when no one treated me seriously or believed that I was qualified enough to translate complex technical problems. Contrary to men doing the same job, I constantly had to prove that I was a professional.” Have you ever wondered how such an attitude influences a young woman who has just graduated? Karina answers: “I was really stressed about my job. I couldn’t show any feelings while working — I couldn’t be worried or anxious about something. I felt like a robot.”
